They were earthbound
In blinding streaks
With murderous screams
Which burdened, each soul with unrest
War proudly proclaimed
Its savage hunger
To savor the young
And their fast withering hopes
They held true
To a ceaseless dream
To drench the earth
In their auburn fury
Fear raged
Alongside the ever-stoic blaze
Loyal, to their fiendish quest
To breed slaughter, ruin, and strife

Dreaming of Places We Have Never Been
In aquariums do fish dream of oceans? Do birds dream of far away skies in their cages? We dream of lands our ancestors traveled that our eyes have never seen - those explorers, homesteaders, immigrants and nomads - all voyagers and seekers, all mapping the story of humanity. There are answers that lie between shared experiences and memories passed down from generation to generation, in stories imprinted from birth that are eloquently written indelibly in our code that stay with us as we evolve. She felt that she’d earned that right, given how long she’d lived, but the situation that she was about to find herself in did little to discourage her as she and most of her immediate family found themselves cresting the final hill to Apple Con. She and the Apple Family had been attending the convention since the early days, which were ones she remembered fondly. Much like her family, the convention had started with humble roots as a means to gather with other apple farmers and merchants, discuss new trends, drum up additional business for the farm and pad the rainy-day fund. Granny had begrudgingly come to tolerate the orange, pineapple and peach merchants, as some of them were kin, and the berry growers, but certain individuals still stuck in her craw. Certain individuals from the Pear family, to be specific. Regardless, by her reckoning, the

Staring out into the beautiful sunset was 17 year old farm-boy Danny and his 8 year old sister Lucy. They were supposed to be preoccupied with their daily chores but were distracted by the amazing view. With his pitchfork in hand, Danny had built up quite the physique, then again after working in barns since he was little that wasn’t surprising. Danny, now 17, was getting distracted at the thought of leaving the farm. It would be only one year before he would be allowed to take off from his parents farm. He stared off into the sunset, daydreaming about how he would approach life in peace. “Danny!!!” Lucy suddenly said angrily, "You haven’t finished your half of the job. This hay isn't going to move itself”. “Oh. Right, sorry Lucy” Danny said apologetically. He grabbed his pitchfork to make a stack of hay and then repeated this process a few times over. He then picked up each stack one at a time and threw them into the back of the truck that was used to travel to the dairy barn down
